The Asbury Park Beer Festival may kick off noon Saturday at Convention Hall but those planning on attending the Saturday events are out of luck.
According to the organizer’s Facebook page tickets to the two Saturday sessions are now sold out. Availability is still open for the noon to 4 p.m. Sunday session at the 1306 Ocean Ave location.
Organizers say the event will feature countless craft beers from around the world as well as blends by local breweries. Beer aficionados can also delve into a cider offerings and iconic retro blends tagged as ‘Your Old Man’s Bar.’ Those samplings will include Pabst Blue Ribbon, Schaefer, Piels, Old Milwaukee, Schlitz and Colt 45.
Presented by 95.9 FM WRAT Radio and the Asbury Park Boardwalk, proceeds will benefit the Officer Down, Clean Ocean Action and Best Day Foundation. The Officer Down nonprofit raises money to assist permanently disabled of family members of fallen officers. Clean Ocean Action works to protect the Jersey coastline while the Best Day Foundation helps children with special needs disabilities build their confidence and self-esteem through adventurous activities like surfing and snow-tubing.
Food vendors will be on hand and the event will feature beer sports like Masskrugstemmen – a beer stein holding feat that challenges one’s endurance.
The Asbury Park Beer Festival runs from noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday but only tickets for the noon to 4 p.m. Sunday session is available. Advance tickets are $37.50 per person and $42 plus applicable service charges at the door. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.com and at the Stone Pony box office.
