vote to add parking meters on agenda

The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by a public workshop session at 6:30 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.

Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:

Executive session discussions regarding various redeveloper agreements, personnel matters, and litigation.

During the regular session the City Council will present proclamations of recognition to the National Boys & Girls Club and the Asbury Park High School debate winners.

Individual resolutions up for consideration include authorizing a planning services agreement with Heyer, Gruel & Associates; the purchase of four pickup trucks for the Dept. of Public Works; and board, commission and committee appointments.

The Council will vote on establishing metered parking at the municipal parking lot as well as at the state-owned Bangs Avenue parking garage. The city leases the space in order to provide free public parking from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

A public hearing will be held on the Central Business District Redevelopment Plan amendment to allow for the Lakehouse expansion.
