Kur Wellness Studios opens soft on Bond Street
East meets West treatments and therapies offered
An unexpected dream was realized this week as Kur Wellness Studios on Bond Street opened its doors to the public.
After owner Troy Teeboom [shown right] bought a beach home here 2½ years ago he decided to leave a marketing career for this new venture.
“I felt more like had I gone to my roots [when I moved here],” said Teeboom, a New Hampshire native who spent 17 in Washington, D.C. “The kind of people, the community, and just the pace.”
Teeboom said he’s spent much of his adult life getting monthly spa treatments but when he couldn’t find what he was looking for along the Jersey Shore, he took a leap of faith.
“I kind of saw it as a whole and thought – well maybe that should be my career,” Teeboom said.
So in a bold move, he began researching the industry a year ago, created a business plan, and in September started to transform the former Clayton Press building into his wellness center.
On Friday morning half of the urban-chic designed massage therapy rooms [shown below] were booked as the soft opening unveiled a menu filled with tailored facial, hand and foot, and detox treatments. A vast offering of massage therapies, acupuncture, and full body wraps complete the organic-healing list.
A yoga and pilates studio offers an array of classes for the novice to the more expeirienced.
His east meets west philosophy translates not only to choosing India’s holistic Ayurvedic therapies and treatments as a foundation but within the décor itself.
“We have Indian [inspired] wallpaper on the ceiling juxtaposed by the Italian lighting below it,” said Teeboom who designed and decorated the wellness center.
Ayurveda, which dates back thousands of years, is defined as “a balance between body, mind, spirit, and social wellbeing,” by the International Ayurveda Foundation.
And, since the soft opening coincides the Mental Health Awareness month, Teeboom has pledged a 50 percent donation for each spa treatment to The Arc of Monmouth County throughout May and June.
A grand opening is planned for June, Teeboom said.
