Festhalle Parking Plan seeks to reduce parking frustration
Four-part plan asks patrons to leave the car at home
To help reduce parking frustrations in the downtown corridor, Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten has established its own four-pronged parking plan that asks patrons to leave the car at home.
“While parking in Asbury can be frustrating it is a clear sign of the long-awaited revitalization of our ‘City by the Sea,” said Festhalle Managing Partner Jennifer Lampert in a news release.
Since its February opening, the Lake Avenue venue has been a popular destination for area residents and visitors alike. But that popularity helped push parking capacity concerns for a city already working to improve its parking limitations.
Currently, the city’s ad hoc Parking Committee is working to vet and implement recommendations from a parking study released in March by consultant Desman Associates of Manhattan.
After the 269-seat beer hall opened residents and business owner said they were experiencing parking issues felt during the height of the summer season. And now that Festhalle’s sprawling rooftop deck capable of holding 450 people is open to the public, parking in the downtown corridor is sure to feel an added strain.
In response, the Austro-Hungarian eatery is offering incentives and discounts to those who leave the car at home.
Patrons who ride NJ Transit rail, or bus lines will receive a 10 percent discount when they present a time stamped ticket when placing an order.
Locals are urged to opt for a bike ride instead of a drive to the biergarten. To accommodate local cyclists, the eatery has installed 60 feet of bicycle racks in the front of the restaurant.
Festhalle has signed on as stop along The Free Ride route. The extended golf cart-like shuttle, capable of holding five passengers, travels to and from the downtown area to the boardwalk from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week from mid-May to the weekend after Labor Day.
Lastly, the restaurant has partnered with Uber. They will offer a $20 off coupon code for first-time Uber riders. Patrons are encouraged to ask the staff how to acquire the promotional code provided through Uber, a mobile app-based crowd-sourced transportation service.
Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten is located at 527 Lake Avenue. The hours of operation is 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
