CNN reports renowned chef turned bestselling author and food journalist
Anthony Bourdain will feature his January trip to the Jersey Shore Sunday night during CNN’s 9 p.m. broadcast of “Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown.”
Among his stops was our own Frank’s Deli on Main Street.
A popular breakfast and lunch sandwich spot that boasts at least a 4.5 rating on most restaurant rating sites, Frank’s has been part of the Asbury Park fabric since 1960.
Owner Joe Maggio said in a Facebook posting, Bourdain and dining companion Southside Johnny had a pastrami sandwich and donuts.
Bourdain, who grew up in Leonia, returned to his Jersey roots with brother Chris to tour Atlantic City, Barnegat Light, Camden, and Fort Lee.
A quick stop at the Silverball Museum on the Asbury Park boardwalk was part of the January visit.
Bourdain reached national acclaim with “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in Culinary Underbelly,” published in 2000. His food shows began in 2005with “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” and “The Layover,” both on the Travel Channel. He launched Parts Unknown in 2013.
The show’s season debut on April 26 showcased his trip to South Korea.
Franks Deli and Restaurant, located at 1406 Main Street, is open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays.
Silverball Museum is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursdsay, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays.
