Below is the Allenhurst police blotter from May 8 through 23.
MAY 8
• Patrolman Anthony Carafa and K9 Bia responded assisted Little Silver Police Department in locating a missing Alzheimer’s patient missing.
• Patrolmen David Lipari and Scott Rapolla investigated a theft report of two unlocked bicylces from a Page Avenue residence. Residents are reminded to be vigilant in locking bicycles and recording serial numbers to help assist police in deterring these thefts.
• Patrolmen David Lipari and Scott Rapolla investigated an early morning strange noise report at a Page Avenue residence.
MAY 10
• Patrolmen Micheal DiBona and Carafa responded to an alarm activation at a Cedar Avenue home. The home was cleared when officers discovered a contractor, with permission, on the premise.
MAY 12
• Patrolman DiBona responded to a suspicious person laying down on a Cedar Avenue property. The subject declined first aid and continued on his walk.
• Chief Robert Richter and Patrolman are investigating a severely corroded handgun found on the beach during the federal beach replenishment project. The gun, believed to be over 80 years old and inoperable, is being evaluated to determine if its origin can be traced.
• A 24-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and driving without vehicle insurance by Patrolmen Rapolla and Wray Burritt.
MAY 18
• A 29-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with driving without a license and failure to wear a seat belt during a ‘click it or ticket’ detail by Captain Michael Schneider. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed driver.
• A 21-year-old Neptune man was charged with marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia during a ‘click it or ticket’ detail by Patrolmen DiBona, Carafa, K9 Bia, and Rapolla.
MAY 19
• Police charged a 52-year old Asbury Park woman with driving with an expired license and driving while suspended by Patrolman Rapolla. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed driver.
MAY 19
• A 25-year-old Neptune man was charged with driving while suspended by Patrolman Rapolla. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed driver.
MAY 20
• The report of a strong odor, along the Deal Lake banks in Benson Park unearthed the rotting carcass of an animal. Chief Richter, Patrolman Lipari, and the Allenhurst DPW responded.
MAY 21
• A 50-year-old Ocean Township man was arrested on an active Allenhurst traffic warrant during a ‘click it or ticket’ detail by Special Officer Whitney Molinelli.
MAY 22
• A 45-year-old Oakhurst man was charged with driving while his license was expired by Patrolman Burritt. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed driver.
• Patrolman Carafa took a harassment report from a Main Street business employee, who was subsequently advised of her recourse since the activity did not occur within Allenhurst’s jurisdiction.
MAY 23
• Patrolman Carafa and K9 Bia assisted Ocean Township Police Department in possible vehicle burglary tracking assignment.
• Patrolmen Burritt, Rapolla, and Special Officer Jeff Henry investigated a domestic dispute in progress at police headquarters. Because there was no physical contact, both sides were advised of their complaint rights and options.
From May 8 to 23, police responded to 12 residential and commercial alarm calls, reported 15 borough ordinance violations, arrested 5 other individuals on various contempt of court warrants, and participated in 10 instances of assisting other agencies.
