Police investigating weekend stabbings
Victims were treated and released from hospital
The Asbury Park Police Department is investigating two stabbing cases that occurred over the weekend, Acting Chief Anthony Salerno said.
The first case was reported near 12:30 a.m. Sunday when police Sgt. Kamil Warraich was flagged down by a passerby. The person said someone was bleeding within the 1100 block of Ocean Avenue along the waterfront.
Police discovered a 30-year-old Asbury Park resident had sustained two lacerations, Salerno said. The EMS were called and he was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was treated and released.
The investigation is ongoing but at this time the victim is not cooperating with the investigation, Salerno said.
“He did not give any information,” he said. “At this time the exact location of the assault is unclear.”
The second stabbing occurred near 2:30 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Second Avenue and Main Street, Salerno said.
Two Latino men engaged in a verbal dispute that turned physical, Salerno said.
An unidentified victim was stabbed multiple times, causing multiple minor lacerations. He also was treated and released at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
“At this time our investigations bureau is working to gather more information on both cases,” Salerno said.
No arrests have been made in either case.
