Budget, boardwalk lighting project & wastewater plant repairs on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by a public workshop session at 6:30 p.m. and the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:
• Executive session discussions regarding personnel matters involving the City Manager, Director of Communications, Director of Commerce, Chief of Police and Director of Public Works positions.
• Litigation and contract negotiation discussions include the proposed Dollar Store tax abatement agreement, the Lake Group proposed property transfer, sale of the Board of Education Park Avenue Firehouse property, and the Financial Advisor and Insurance Broker agreements.
• The regular meeting will include votes for adoption of wedding and special event applications, including this weekend’s Memorial Walk to honor June 16 shooting victim Tamara Wilson-Seidle and boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette’s planned Sept. 26 Indian Summer camping event.
• An amendment to the 2015 Municipal Budget will be up for adoption. Final figures include a $455,000 drop in transitional aid from the state. The $42.7 million budget will be supported by a $15.8 million tax levy, a $110,467 increase over last year.
• The city council will vote on the Asbury Park Boardwalk lighting project and the Wastewater Treatment Plant repairs.
• A new ordinance establishing salaries for certain municipal employees will be put forth and the public will have a chance to ask questions and make comments before the final vote on air space easements for the 613 Bangs Avenue project.
