Below is the Allenhurst Police Department crime report from August 16 through September 19.
AUG 16
• A 30-year-old Brooklyn woman was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, after she was stopped for a vehicle equipment violation. A 60-year-old West Allenhurst man also was charged with assault and resisting arrest after involving himself in the arrest. Both were processed and released on summonses, with a pending court dates. Patrolmen Lipari, Carafa and Rapolla were the arresting officers.
• During the early morning, officers responded to a report of a possible prowler. K9 Bia was deployed for a building search of the residence but no one was found. The surrounding area was checked by officers. Patrolmen Carafa and Rapolla investigated.
• An 18-year-old North Carolina man was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license after being stopped for a vehicle equipment violation. He was processed and released on two traffic summonses with a pending court date. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Patrolman Carafa.
AUG 17
• A report of a deer being struck by a vehicle near Spier and Nowrwood avenues resulted in police having to euthanize the badly injured animal at the scene. Patrolman Rapolla responded.
AUG 18
• A 25-year-old Brooklyn woman was charged with making an improper turn and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop. She was processed and released on a criminal summons and two motor vehicle violations, with a pending court date. Patrolman Eustace was assisted by Patrolman DiBona.
AUG 20
• Police are continuing to investigate a report of a woman seeking help by ringing a door bell at a Cedar Avenue residence during the early morning hours. Although she fled the home before officers arrived, she was found a short time later by responding officer Patrolman Lipari.
AUG 21
• A 54-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license after being stopped for making an improper turn. He was processed and released on summonses, with a pending court date. Patrolman Burritt was the arresting officer.
• A 38-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with driving while unlicensed [never having had a license] after being stopped for a vehicle equipment violation. He was processed and released on summonses, with a pending court date. Chief Richter was assisted by Patrolman Burritt.
• A driver of a vehicle was issued a failure to yield right of way at an intersection summons following a two car crash at Ocean and Allen avenues. The second driver was issued summonses for driving while suspended, failure to install interlock device, and failure to exhibit insurance card. Neither driver was injured. Captain Schneider was assisted by Special Officer Butler.
AUG 22
• Officers responded to the beach for a trespassing report. Two subjects were identified and elected to leave. Patrolman Burritt was the responding officer.
• A one vehicle crash at the intersection Main Street and Corlies Avenue knocked down a traffic light and damaged a nearby parked vehicle. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, by the Allenhurst First Aid Squad and the Fire Department responded to monitor exposed power wires. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Patrolman Burritt.
• No one was injured and no summonses were issued for a two-vehicle crash near the beachfront Patrolman Burritt investigated.
• K9 Bia was able to positively identify the presence of narcotics while assisting the U.S. Marshals and Asbury Park Street Crimes Unit during the execution of a warrant in the city. A subsequent search revealed a semi-automatic handgun.
AUG 23
• A report was taken for a parked vehicle crash but the vehicle that struck the parked car left the area and was not identified. Patrolman Eustace responded.
• Police responded to a two- vehicle crash on Corlies Avenue. Ptl Eustace was assisted by SO Henry.
• A 20-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with trespassing and two juveniles face criminal charges in Family Court after officers responded to the Benson Park area for a trespassing and disorderly conduct report. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Special Officer Henry and Sgt. Rogers.
AUG 25
• A 45-year-old Long Branch woman was with driving while suspended and driving while unlicensed [never having had a license] following a motor vehicle stop. She was processed and released on summonses, with a pending court date. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Patrolman DiBona.
• A driver involved in a two vehicle crash at Elberon and Ocean avenues was issued for failure to yield right of way at an intersection summons. Neither driver was injured. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Patrolman DiBona.
• A beach club member’s membership was revoked after police responded to and investigated an argument with an employee. Patrolman Carafa investigated.
AUG 30
• No charges were filed against an intoxicated man found lying on a resident’s lawn during the early morning. The man was identified and allowed to stay with the local resident for the night. Patrolmen Rapolla and Eustace responded.
AUG 31
• A 23-year old Brooklyn man was charged with simple assault after police investigated a 911 call from a Main Street business. The man was processed and released on a criminal summons, with a pending court date. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Special Officer Henry.
• Officers assisted the Deal Police Department in investigating a suspicious person report at a Loch Arbour home. Officers held the person for the neighboring police department, who arrested the subject for trespassing. Patrolmen Eustace, Rapolla, and Special Officer Henry responded.
SEPT 2
• A 30-year-old Eatontown woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Ocean Township following a motor vehicle stop. She was processed and released after posting a full cash bail. No local charges were filed. Patrolman Lipari was the arresting officer.
• A 40-year-old local man, on an outstanding criminal warrant, out of Asbury Park court. The subject was turned over to Asbury Park PD. Ptl Lipari was the arresting officer and was assisted by PFC DiBona.
SEPT 3
• A burglary call at a Cedar Avenue home was deemed unfounded following an investigation by Patrolman Burritt. The surrounding areas were checked for possible suspect.
SEPT 5
• Police responded to the beachfront for a report of a possible dolphin in distress. It was later determined the dolphin was not in distress but feeding on a large chunk of decaying sea life in the surf. It was removed from the water by Beach Club employees and the Marine Mammal Stranding Center was advised of the incident. Patrolman Lipari investigated.
• A report of a stolen bicycle on Cedar Avenue resulted in officers finding another bicycle left at the scene of the theft by the suspect. The bicycle was taken into custody in the hopes of lifting fingerprints. The investigation remains open. Patrolman Carafa responded.
SEPT 6
• A highly intoxicated 33-year old West Long Branch man was found lying in the grass near Cedar and Ocean avenues after police investigated a suspicious person report. A taxi was called to take the man home. Patrolmen Rapolla and Carafa responded.
• A motorist was found slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle at Edgemont Drive and Ocean Avenue in Loch Arbour during the early morning. Deal police was requested and subsequently issued driving while intoxicated charges. Patrolman Rapolla was involved.
• A report of a loose dog at a Main Street business resulted in an Allenhurst officer agreeing to care for the animal at his home until its owner could be found. The owner was identified hours later and the dog was returned. Special Officer Henry responded.
• A report of a woman “going crazy” at the Citgo gas station resulted in officers separating four adults and two children. Both sides refused to sign complaints against one another. Family members were called to take custody of the children and the adult parties separated themselves for the evening. Patrolman Lipari, Special Officer Henry, and Sgt. Rogers responded.
SEPT 7
• A minor two-vehicle crash on Cedar Avenue resulted in no reported injuries or summonses. Patrolman Eustace investigated.
• Officers were called to six different locations for reports of the smell of smoke. It was determined the smell was coming from a large fire in another county. Patrolmen Rapolla and DiBona responded.
SEPT 8
• A minor two-vehicle crash at the beachfront resulted in the owners deciding to handle the incident without police involvement. Patrolman Eustace investigated.
• Police responded to a Corlies Avenue residence after tenants reported they found an open door. The home and surrounding area were checked but nothing “out of the ordinary” was found. Patrolman DiBona investigated.
SEPT 9
• A report of a dispute between partners of a Main Street business resulted in the reporting party being advised on how to proceed with civil complaints, as there were no criminal actions. Patrolman Eustace investigated.
SEPT 10
• A 19-year-old Deal man was charged with speeding and found to be driving while unlicensed [never having had a license] following a motor vehicle stop. He was processed and released on two traffic summonses, with a pending court date. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed driver. Patrolman Burritt was investigated.
SEPT 12
• Officers checked the entire town for a reported missing and possibly suicidal person and a vehicle she was reportedly driving but produced negative results. The person was reportedly found 12 hours later. Patrolmen DiBona and Carafa investigated.
• Officers responded to the area of Lake Drive and Allen Avenue to investigate a report of a woman screaming for help. The surrounding area was thoroughly checked but nothing and no one was found. Patrolmen Burritt and Rapolla responded.
• Officers took a report of a parked vehicle being struck at 405 Spier Avenue. The second vehicle left the scene before police arrived. Patrolman Burritt investigated.
SEPT 13
• A 57-year-old Asbury Park man was arrested on an outstanding Tinton Falls warrant following a motor vehicle stop. He was processed and released after posting a full cash bail. There were no local charges filed. Patrolman DiBona was the arresting officer.
• A report of a suspicious object along the beachfront resulted in the Army Corps of Engineers removing the item. The Police Department reminds all that the use of metal detectors is forbidden while beach replenishment is ongoing. Patrolman Rapolla investigated.
• A 52-year-old Toms River man was charged with driving while suspended after a motor vehicle stop. He was processed and released on two motor vehicle summonses, with a pending court date. Patrolman Eustace was assisted by Patrolman Rapolla.
SEPT 14
• A 22-year-old Atlantic Highlands man was arrested on drug charges during a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation. The man, a passenger, was in unlawful possession of prescription drugs. He was processed and released on a criminal summons, with a pending court date. The driver and a second passenger were not charged. Patrolman Carafa was assisted by Patrolman DiBona.
• A 22-year-old Asbury Park woman was charged with driving with a suspended registration after a motor vehicle stop. She was processed and released on a traffic summons, with a pending court date. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Chief Richter.
SEPT 15
• A pedestrian, struck by a motor vehicle in the area of Corlies Avenue and Main Street, was transported to a local hospital by the Allenhurst First Aid Squad with a leg injury. The investigation remains open. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Chief Richter.
SEPT 16
• An early morning report of a possible trespasser at a Corlies Avenue home resulted in police finding motion lights were activated by animals. Patrolman Burritt investigated.
• A 21-year-old Long Branch man was charged with driving while suspended after a motor vehicle stop. He was processed and released on a traffic summons, with a pending court date. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed driver. Patrolman Eustace was the arresting officer.
SEPT 17
• The police department responded to the beachfront after two boats collided, causing passenger(s) on one of the boats to be thrown overboard. The Allenhurst Fire Department and their dive team, The NJ State Police Marine Unit and the U.S. Coast Guard also responded.
SEPT 18
• A 57-year-old Fair Haven man was charged with driving while suspended following a motor vehicle stop. He was processed and released on a summons, with a pending court date. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed driver. Patrolman Burritt was the arresting officer.
• Officers responded to a Corlies Avenue home for a report of a possible intruder. The entire residence was checked, with no signs anyone had been inside. Patrolman Lipari assisted by Chief Richter.
• A 26-year-old Bradley Beach man was charged with numerous motor vehicle violations following a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation. Charges included exhibiting unclear plates, driving while unlicensed [never having had a license], driving while suspended, unregistered vehicle, fictitious plates, being an uninsured motorist, and displaying forged/counterfeit license plates. He was processed and released, with a pending court date and his vehicle was impounded. The matter remains under investigation. Patrolman Rapolla was assisted by Captain Schneider.
From August 15 to September 19, Allenhurst police also responded to 11 residential and commercial alarm calls; 11 borough ordinance violations; 17 noise related complaints; arrested five individuals on contempt of court warrants, three of which was transported to Monmouth County Jail in lieu of bail; and had seven instances of assisting other law enforcement agencies.
