Organizers have opted to postpone the Zombie Walk in lieu of this weekend’s unpredictable inclement weather.

“We have gone ahead and postponed the Zombie Walk to next,” Chamber of Commerce President Jackie Pappas said.

The Chamber is organizing the event in conjunction with John McGillion, who bought the event rights, and boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette.

“Obviously the safety of everyone is the first priority,” Pappas said.

Mayor John Moor said he believes they made the right decision.

“I’m sure it was a tough decision but everyone is looking at public safety first,” Moor said. “I’m glad they made the decision as early as possible.”

On Thursday morning Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency.

Pappas said the Zombie Walk event line up will remain the same.

“We want this to be a safe and pleasant event,” Pappas said. “We are so appreciative of all the Zombie Walk fans and for all their encouragement, support and patience.”
