Editor, Asbury Park Sun,

On behalf of the Asbury Park Historical Society’s Board of Trustees and its supporters, I would like to thank the many people who turned out last Sunday to support our efforts to preserve the historic Stephen Crane House on Fourth Avenue.

Several years ago we had a similar open house that was attended about 50 people- this year I would guess we had more than 150 people over a three-hour period.

And while the food [by Trustee Teddy Chomko] helped lure people in- there was a genuine interest about Stephen Crane, his life and home, and Asbury Park- which is a pretty nice thing in this generation! It was also Stephen Crane’s  birthday on Sunday. Champaign and cake- not too bad!!

So, once again, thank you to all who showed your support and we look forward to better things and events in the future!!

Don Stine, APHS President
