Adult and juvenile arrested on drug charges

Charges forwarded to Family Court for disposition

Two Ocean Township males were arrested for drug possession and being under the influence of marijuana near 8:40 p.m. Monday night.

Ocean Township police officers Joseph Larkins and Philip Jackson were on patrol near the intersection of Jeffery and Interlaken avenues when they encountered a suspicious vehicle, Ocean Township Police Department spokesman Det. Lt. Kevin Faller said.

The investigation revealed a 17-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger were in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Both men were taken into custody. During processing, the 17-year-old was found to be in possession of 1½ Xanax pills without a prescription.

The 18-year-old was released on a complaint summons, with a pending court date for being in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and being under the influence of marijuana.

The 17-year-old juvenile was remanded into the custody of a family member, with charges for possession of a prescription legend drug without a prescription, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence of marijuana being forwarded to the Monmouth County Family Court for disposition, Faller said.
