Dept. of Commerce, fee increases & free metered parking day on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Thursday in council chambers at City Hall.
A closed executive session will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by a public workshop session at 6:30 p.m. and the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:
• Executive Session discussions include the Director of Communications position, contract negotiations regarding 2016 professional services and Carter Sackman’s Savoy Theater, and the Famularo disciplinary proceedings.
• A postponed presentation by the city’s consulting engineer T & M Associates is expected during the workshop session. Discussion items include the Wastewater Treatment Plant Emergency Generator Replacement project; the TWA application for 1101 Ocean Avenue; and a proposal for traffic signal warrant studies.
• Resolution votes on routine matters include special event approvals and the disposition of surplus vehicles.
• Individual votes on routine matters include the purchase of six police cameras, appointment of two alternate Public Art Committee members, establishing a free metered parking day through the holiday shopping season, RCA project agreements, reestablishing the Springwood Avenue Brownfield Development area agreement with NJDEP, authorizing agreements for Happiness Café and Talula’s to erect semi-permanent vestibules within the city’s right-of-way and consent for 1101 Ocean’s NJDEP permit.
• New Ordinance introductions include the creation of one-way streets, changes to the police and fire details, changes to mercantile licenses, and escrow account procedures.
• The public will have the opportunity to ask question and make comments before the City Council votes for changes to the vital statistics, cat and dog, and liquor license fee changes, the termination of the Department of Commerce, and the House of Independents request for a marquee sign to be placed within the city’s right of way.
