City man charged w/ obscenity & child endangerment
initial contact with juvenile occurred during drug awareness lecture
A city resident was arrested Friday morning and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and obscenities to a person under 18, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has announced.
William Egan, 27, of Mattison Avenue [at right] was charged with the third degree crimes following an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s High Tech Crime Unit, Beachwood and Asbury Park Police Departments.
The partnering agencies executed the search warrant at Egan’s residence after an Ocean County High School female juvenile said she received nude images from an adult male, according to a news release.
During the investigation, detectives made contact and identified the alleged sender of the images as William Egan.
Egan’s initial contact with the victim began when he provided a drug awareness lecture at her high school in Beachwood.
During a search of Egan’s residence, detectives seized numerous items containing digital evidence, as well as numerous controlled substances [amphetamines and anabolic steroids]. The items were turned over to Asbury Park Police detectives who charged Egan with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
The Ocean County charges were handled by Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Hillary Bryce and were signed by Lt. Glen Demarco of the Beachwood Police Department.
Egan’s cash only bail was set at $50,000 by Ocean County Superior Court Judge Wendel Daniels. He also is subject to Nicole’s Law, the court ordered restraining order preventing contact with the victim.
