A motor vehicle stop near the Asbury Park Circle led to the drug arrest of an Asbury Park resident and charges for an Elizabeth man still at large, Det. Lt. Kevin Faller said.

Robinson Marvilus, 26, of Elizabeth and Lesly Valentin, 30, of Asbury Park are charged with possession of 118 bags of heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia following the 10:35 p.m. Nov. 4 stop along Route 66.

While the motor vehicle stop was for an equipment violation, officers learned Marvilus, the driver, had an active arrest warrant. He was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest, Faller said.

After officers observed several bullet impact holes on the vehicle, not owned by either of the men, the car was impounded. Both men were subsequently released from custody.

On Nov. 6, a vehicle search warrant was executed by Ocean Township Det. Bryan Morgan and Det. Nicholas Cattelona of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. The search uncovered the drugs. Both men were charged with heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia possession.

On Wednesday, Velentin was located and arrested by NJ state police on unrelated charges, Faller said. He was transferred to Monmouth County Jail in Freehold in lieu of a $20,000 cash only bail. Marvilus remains at large.

Ocean Township Police Officers David Marino Jr., Christopher Clune and Det. Bryan Morgan were assisted by Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Nicholas Cattelona.
