The Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the 2015 Business Holiday Window Decorating Contest during this weekend’s downtown Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Press Plaza.

Top honors went to grand prize winner TAKA on Cookman Avenue, with DJ’s Delights, Robert Legere Home and Langosta Lounge taking the large windows prize and Lush, Beautiful & Gracious Home Interiors and Shelter Home capturing the small windows accolade.

“It was great to see diversity in the holiday décor,” Chamber Executive Director Jackie Pappas said. “Oasis Home and Fitness Lifestyles both incorporated Christmas trees and Hanukah menorahs [and] Langosta Lounge created a sustainable theme building ‘sandmen’ instead of snowmen.”

Eighteen businesses within the downtown and boardwalk areas participated in contest, Pappas said.

“[It] was a very close race with only a few points separating the winners from runners up,” she said.

The Holiday Window Decorating Contest, cosponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the municipality’s Quality of Life Committee, was broken down into a large window and small window display categories. Judges based the criteria on mood, theme, creativity, and design.

Judging took place last week, from Nov 30 to Dec 4 by Chamber, ArtsCap, and Quality of Life Committee members.

Next up will be the Residential Holiday Décor Decorating contest, part of the ‘Pride in the Park’ series.

The contest is open to all residents of Asbury Park; private homes, townhouses, high-rise terraces and windows are all eligible to enter.

Registration for the home contest ends Wednesday, with judging running from Dec. 10 – 14. Winners will be announced Dec 16.
