Second Life Bikes To Give Away Over 100 Children’s Bikes
Event slated for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
If you know a child that has been hoping for a bike this holiday season there’s a chance you’ll be able to make their dream come true.
Second Life Bikes has spent a month amassing an inventory of bicycles with 20’’ wheels and smaller, appropriate for children under age 10.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday [or until supply lasts] the Main Street shop will give away the two-wheelers
“We have been working hard all month preparing them,” owner Kerri Martin announced via a local social media website. “Please send over any families or organizations that may want them.”
Every Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 or 9 p.m. this month volunteers worked to get the kids bikes [at right] ready for Saturday’s give away.
Known for its refurbished bike sales and as the local repair shop where you can find every part fathomable, Second Life also runs a youth outreach initiative that teaches kids to restore bicycles during a 15-hour program.
“Donated bicycles and parts are vital in sustaining Second Life Bikes; everything we are given is put to good use and given the chance to have a second life,” Martin’s website states.
Second Life is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday at Main Street. For more information, call (732) 776- 878 or e mail kerri@secondlifebikes.org.
