ShowRoom to screen Academy Award nominated shorts

Oscar Shorts Day & VIP Event part of theater’s February showcase

Now that the Oscar Nominees are in, The ShowRoom is readying for ‘Oscar Shorts Day.’

Film buffs can begin screening the Academy Award nominated Animated Short Films and Live Action Short Films Jan. 29, prior to the Feb. 6 main event when Oscar Shorts Day will include viewings of the nominated Documentary Short Films.

“Short films are the pinnacle of the ShowRoom experience,” owner Michael Sodano said rebuild by design showroom-SCALEDin a written news release. “The diverse short films that are nominated for an Academy Award this year offer an engaging view of the filmmakers’ creativity. In a succinct and powerful manner, the short films explore subjects such as honor killings in Pakistan, the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, Vietnam veterans, Afghan-Americans, and nuns living in the West Bank.”

A VIP event also is planned for Feb. 1, he said.

Oscar Shorts Day features a back-to-back run of the 15 nominated shorts, as well as exclusive promotions, raffles, refreshments, and live entertainment, Sodano said. Filmgoers may cast their predictions and participate in the ‘Name Theatre 3’ contest.

The 15 short films nominated for an Academy Award® will run through Feb. 26. They include:

The ShowRoom opened April 2009 at 707 Cookman Avenue. Owners Nancy Sabino and Michael Sodano are film showroom opening SCALEDindustry veterans with more than 25 years experience in creative communications for corporate productions. The art house cinema runs a roster of critically acclaimed independent, classic, foreign, family, and festival-winning films.
