Update: Parking guidelines for the weekend storm
iStar opens Grand Avenue parking lot during weekend storm event
iStar Financial, the master waterfront redeveloper, will allow city residents to park in its parking lot at Grand and Lake avenues throughout the duration of the storm, municipal spokeswoman Hannah Walker announced.
The close to 100 space lot will be accessible to residents who do not have off street parking in order to accomodate the city’s plowing schedule during and immediately after the weekend storm event.
City officials said earlier Friday afternoon, residents should park vehicles off-street in driveways prior to and during winter storms in order to accomodate the snow plowing schedule.
And since coastal flooding may occur as a result of the storm, the alert included a warning for residents to move vehicles away from the lakeside of roads near Wesley, Sunset, or Deal lakes.
If you live in a low-lying, flood area, vehicles can now be parked at the iStar owned lot.
Walker said the state-owned Bangs Avenue garage and city owned parking lots are not accessible to the public.
The municipality is implementing alternate side parking rules to further accomodate its plowing schedule, Walker said.
On Saturday, residents should park on the odd-numbered side of the roadways and on Sunday, parking should be done on the even-numbered side of city streets.
The alternate side parking rules do not apply in areas that are marked for no parking in snow emergency, she said.
The city’s latest alert asks residents to adhere to street signange and the ‘Alternate Side/No Parking’ Legend for parking rules after Sunday, available HERE .
On one-way streets, park on the left hand side of streets as you face the direction of traffic flow. This will make it easier for plows to operate on the narrow streets such as Bond, Emory, Heck, Bergh and Webb, the news release said.
