Asbury Man arrested for drug possession & FRO violation
Registered driver had final restraining order against passenger
A Tuesday morning traffic stop led to the arrest and an Asbury Park man for drug possession and violation of a Final Restraining Order, Ocean Township Police Department spokesman Det. Lt. Timothy Torchia said.
Joseph W. Jasmin, 32, was charged possession of a controlled dangerous substance [believed to be PCP] and the Final Restraining Order violation.
During an approximately 10:18 traffic stop along Route 66 near Seaview Square Mall, Patrol Officer Raheem Carter found that the registered owner of the vehicle had a protection order against the passenger, later identified as Jasmin.
He was transported to Ocean Township Police Headquarters where Carter located a liquid form of controlled dangerous substance on Jasmin, Torchia said. The substance is believed to be liquid PCP.
“This is commonly known as ‘wet’ where ordinary cigarettes can be dipped in the PCP solution, or loose tobacco or marijuana is saturated, dried, and or rolled into,” Torchia said in a written news release.
Jasmin was processed and released on a $10,000 bail, set by Judge McGoughran.
