Man found with sawed-off shotgun, heroin, police say
Blotter for July 4 to July 10, 2012
A 31-year-old Asbury Park man was allegedly found to be in possession of a sawed-off shotgun and half an ounce of uncut heroin on July 8.
As the result of an investigation, Jermaine Henry Nettles, 31, was found in an apartment at St. Stephen Manor, Asbury Park Police Chief Mark Kinmon said. Nettles, a Ridge Avenue resident, does not live in St. Stephen Manor.
A half-ounce of uncut heroin is equivalent to about 550 packaged bundles, Kinmon said. Police also allegedly discovered “quite a bit of packaging used for distribution,” he said.
Nettles was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance [CDS]; possession of weapons for unlawful purposes; unlawful possession of weapons; CDS distribution near a public place; CDS distribution near school property; manufacturing, dispensing or distributing CDS; drug paraphernalia; prohibited weapons — sawed-off shotguns; and firearm possession while committing a CDS crime.
He was released after posting bail of $100,000.
