Lakewood resident charged in 3-car accident at Grand & 4th
Investigation continues, no major injuries sustained
There were no serious injuries sustained in the Friday morning three car accident at Fourth and Grand avenues, Asbury Park Police Department spokesman Michael Casey said.
Joseph Kahn, 33, of Lakewood was charged with careless driving following the near 9:50 a.m. crash.
The onsite investigation found that Kahn, traveling east on Fourth Avenue, when he disregarded the stop sign and struck a 2007 Lincoln traveling north on Grand Avenue, Casey said.
The vehicle was occupied by two city males, ages 21 and 28, who were transported by the Asbury Park Fire Department ambulance unit to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, with non-life threatening injuries, Casey said.
After the collision, Kahn’s vehicle continued to travel east up onto the curb to the embankment at Cathedral Assembly Baptist Church, at 1200 Grand Avenue, Casey said.
Debris from Kahn’s vehicle came loose and struck a 2004 Audi resting at the nearby stop sign. That vehicle was heading west on Fourth Avenue, Casey said.
Kahn’s vehicle and the Lincoln sustained heavy damages and were subsequently towed from the scene by a city-contracted tow company, Casey said.
Clean up of the crash site, which included a large amount of fluid from the vehicles, was done by the fire officials and the tow company, Casey said.
The accident remains under investigation.
