Free Film Fridays return to Paramount Theatre
May screenings include Wizard of Oz Double Feature
The Free Movie Friday series is back next month at Paramount Theatre.
Held from May 6 to 27, the series kicks off with the 1993 coming of age “Dazed and Confused,” directed by Richard Linklater, and includes the Friday the 13th screening of “Friday The 13th” and a “Wizard of Oz” double feature on May 20.
The iconic film will screened at 6:30 p.m. and is immediately followed at 9:30 p.m. by its alternative “Dark Side of the Rainbow,” featuring music from Pink Floyd’s 1973 “The Dark Side of the Moon.”
Presented in conjunction with the Asbury Park Film Initiative, this series gives audiences a chance to see favorite classic films on the big screen.
Founded in 2008 by entrepreneurs Marilyn Schlossbach of Langosta Lounge and film publicist VJ Carbone, the Asbury Park Film Initiative is a nonprofit working to provide the city with film and art-related activities that promote culture, education & diversity. Their free film series includes summer screenings on the beach.
No tickets are needed for entrance to the over thousand seat theatre and the free film series also features movie theater concession snacks and a cash bar for those age 21 and older.
Following the films, guests are welcome to attend a no cover charge after party, complete with light fare and music, organizers said.
The after parties will alternate between the Asbury Oyster Bar and Anchor’s Bend, both located within the Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall complex, located at 1300 Ocean Ave.
