Quality of Life Partners with Habitat for Humanity
Volunteers to help with small home repair & maintenance projects
Days after their second city-wide cleanup helped clear unwanted trash and debris from city streets and property, the Asbury Park Quality of Life Committee’s spring cleanup efforts now turn helping residents with home improvement projects, Councilwoman Yvonne Clayton said.
On Saturday, a group of volunteers gathered for the city-wide cleanup that also provided a shredder at city hall for bulk paper disposal.
Now efforts will turn will helping residents complete their spring to-do lists.
In the upcoming weeks, the group will be working in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity to help city residents with spring home repair and maintenance projects.
Be it painting, plumbing repairs or a need to mow and/or deweed the lawn, residents can sign up for the free volunteer assistance program by e-mailing Clayton.
Formed last year with Clayton at the helm, the Quality of Life Committee concentrates its efforts on monitoring everything from missing manhole covers to traffic light outages.
In October, the first city-wide cleanup included the distribution of smoke detectors, with members of the Jersey Coast American Red Cross Chapter and Asbury Park Fire Department evaluating and installing the needed fire prevention devices.
Those interested in signing up for the free spring home repair program can e-mail Yvonne.clayton@cityofasburypark.com with name, telephone number and email address.
