Capital improvement bonds for road improvement, vehicle and equipment purchases on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall.
A closed executive session will start at 6 p.m., followed by the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:
• The Executive Session discussions regarding contract negotiations with Carter Sackman for the Savoy Theater Financial Agreement and Interfaith Neighbors’ redeveloper’s agreement for the Turf Club on Springwood Avenue.
• The City Council will also discuss litigation matters concerning James Famularo’s disciplinary action as well as his initiatives and a referendum complaint.
• The Regular Session meeting votes include budgetary matters, the referral of the Central Business District Sound Mitigation Changes to the Planning Board; authorization of and Employment Agreement with Deputy Chief Anthony Salerno; an extension of an existing retention wall within the city’s right of way for 700 block Asbury Avenue property; awarding Summertime Surf the operation Surf Lesson contract along the beach front at an annual rate of $3,550 through 2018.
• The City Council also will vote on the $75,000 purchase and installation of trash and recycling receptacles per the subsequent developer’s agreement with boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette
• The professional design, bidding and construction services with T&M Associates for the repair to the wastewater treatment plant’s roof repair. Officials said 90 percent of the $25,510 cost is reimbursable by FEMA available Superstorm Sandy funds.
• And, a settlement agreement with James Famularo with regard to June 5, 2015 and an August 7, 2012 claim against the city.
• A handicapped restricted parking space to be appropriated for a 1200 block Springwood Avenue home will be introduced.
• And, the public will have a the opportunity to ask question and make comments before final votes on capital improvement bond allotments for the purchase of municipal vehicles, equipment and road improvement projects as well as the refunding of an outstanding June 25, 2009 general improvement bond in order to obtain debt service savings.
