Memorial Day Weekend Along the AP Boardwalk
New shops and food offerings join the annual summer favorites
The Memorial Day weekend along Asbury Park’s boardwalk features a roster of old favorites and some new offering.
The popular North Eats food truck park kicked off the 2016 summer season Friday morning.
Returning to the park are Johnny’s Pork Roll [at right], Runa Peruvian and Igloo Ice Cream. New this year are Garden State Salad Co., BrazBQ, and The Asbury Dawg, said Carrie Turner, Director of Retail.
The hours of operation from Memorial Day Weekend through June 19 are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday to Sunday, [open until 10 p.m. through the holiday weekend].
North Eats will open daily from June 23 through Labor Day, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., [open until 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Labor Day weekend].
Sea Change 2016 begins a second year at the AP Boardwalk., Turner said. A full listing of participating artists and events will be announced shortly.
“The completed 2015 project with installations at the Carousel, Casino, and Power Plant have been recognized by connoisseurs of the art world as well as every day visitors to Asbury Park,” Turner said.
This is the last weekend for pop up vintage market, Sojourn [at right], located on the second floor of the iconic Convention Hall building overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Monday, Memorial Day.
This July, the second floor Convention Hall space will transform into The Overlook, a formal pop up concert and event space. The venue will host a curated series of music and art events beginning in July.
“The space looks to celebrate the best aspects of the city and culture that define Asbury Park,” she said.
Downtown and boardwalk pop up Korean taco eatery, MOGO, will sponsor the event series and serve as the exclusive food vendor of the space, Turner said.

The Asbury Park boardwalk also includes Asbury Splash waterpark [at right], Asbury Eighteen miniature golf, life-size chess board, the Silverball Pinball Museum, and the iconic Madam Marie’s.
Popular eateries and entertainment venues include Stella Marina, the Watermark, Cubacan, Langosta Lounge, Pop’s Garage, the Asbury Park Yacht Club, McLoone’s Asbury Grille and Supper Club, as well as The Anchor’s Bend.
Dotted throughout the boardwalk are pop up food offerings from MOGO, Hoagito’s, Tony’s Dog and Cheesesteaks, the Mayfair Boardwalk Grill, Ralph’s Italian Ices, Pucker, the Juice Bar, Day’s Ice Cream, the Crepe Shop, and Eddie Confetti’s Ice Cream.
Weekend events along the boardwalk include:
7 p.m. Friday night Bonfire [weather permitting[ at the 5th Avenue Beach and the Asbury Park Night Bazaar Series 5-10 p.m. in the Grand Arcade.
The May Free movie series concludes 7:30 p.m. with Across The Universe in the Paramount Theatre, film starts at 8 p.m.
The Sunday night Fireworks at the 4th Avenue Beach kicks off at 9 p.m. [weather permitting].
