Asbury Park College Promise offers Brookdale credits
Comprehensive college readiness program will yield 64 credits
The Asbury Park School District, in partnership with Brookdale Community College is launching its Asbury Park College Promise initiative.
The college readiness program will allow high school students to begin their college career during the junior year, officials have said.
College courses will be offered in conjunction with the high school curriculum, giving students the opportunity to graduate with up to 64 Brookdale College credits.
Superintended Lamont Repollet [at right] has said the comprehensive dual study program will not only allow students to get a jump start on their college career but will help relieve the financial costs.
The Promise program will be funded by The Jules L. Plangere Jr. Family Foundation over the next three years, officials said. Established in 1997 by the former Asbury Park Press and Home News Tribune publisher, the foundation has provided close to $20 million in financial support to charitable organizations.
