Indian Summer & Fall Bazaar Returns with Green initiative
AP Boardwalk Art, Music, & Makers Fest set for Sept 24-25
The annual Asbury Park Fall Bazaar and Indian Summer Music Fest dates are set for a Sept. 24 to 25 return along the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
Held in partnership with The Asbury Park Boardwalk and The Market Asbury Park, the weekend event is a showcase of local art, music, makers and a wrap up celebration of summer.
“Asbury Park is a place of creativity, art, music, and talent, and I think the event highlights that,” Fall Bazaar founder Jennifer Vickers said via promotional video.
This year, a partnership with Clean Water Action has resulted in organizers greening the festival via Rethink DisposableTM, a campaign to replace single use disposable containers like plastic and Styrofoam with reusable cups.
According to Clean Water Action’s website, the “throw away” lifestyle has resulted in the average household producing 4.4 pounds of waste per day, twice as much as in 1960. This linear approach to resource consumption has big impacts for our communities, the marine environment and even how our taxpayer dollars are spent.
This year will be even bigger and better with three stages, tons of independent artisan vendors, as well as the return of beach camping, bonfire, yoga and brunch, organizers said in a written news release.
“It’s a celebration of the culture here in Asbury Park,” Indian Summer co-founder Colin Carhart said in the video. “We have this amazing architecture on the beach here which isn’t anywhere else on the east coast.”
The Asbury Park Bazaar will run from be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sept 24 and 25. A curated showcase of independent vendors feature handmade jewelry and goods, vintage, art and photography, handcrafted furniture and home goods, fair trade certified and organic beauty products.
The Indian Summer music fest kicks off at 2 p.m. Sept 24 on three stages in and around Convention Hall.
“Indian Summer grew from something organic and natural,” cofounder Joe Chyb said.
Headlining on The Anchor’s Bend beach stage this year is The Dean Ween Group, headed by Trenton native Mickey Melchiondo. The musical lineup there also includes gods, The Cold Seas, Boytoy, Need Points, and Lyons, followed by dance party with DJs Atom Worth and Foggy Notion.
On the Overlook stage join Nite Nite Bug Out late night party with Wreaths, Seaside Caves and Stained Glass.
The Arcade stage features Silent Shapes, Gringo Motel, and Matt Wade Band performing during the Asbury Park Fall Bazaar.
The Saturday events are also highlighted by a beach bonfire and on-site beach camping, details to be announced.
On Sunday, 9:30 a.m. beach yoga hosted by Younique Yoga is followed by Sunday Brunch at The Anchor’s Bend.
The Asbury Park Fall Bazaar is free and $20 advance Indian Summer tickets are available via Ticketmaster and the Stone Pony box office, located 913 Ocean Avenue.
