Deal Lake Cleanup
Volunteers are being sought for the Deal Lake Fall Cleanup, being held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The cleanup is sponsored by the Deal Lake Commission. Participants are asked to dress for the weather. Work gloves, trash bags, and tools will be provided.
The crew will assemble at the Asbury Park Boat Ramp, located next to 7-11 on Main Street.
Adjacent residents should take note that the Deal Lake lowering will begin on Tuesday to enable homeowners to repair docks and clear the shore line of trash and debris. Special care should be given to ensuring the shoreline’s nature settings are preserved to prevent erosion and maintain wildlife.
Film Series
New York Post Chief Film Critic and Editor Lou Lumenick will be the guest presenter at the Lights! Camera! Politics! Film Series held 3 p.m. Saturday at The Stephen Crane House. This month’s film will be the 1964 “The Best Man,” written by Gore Vidal.
Lumenick, who recently retired, is a member of New York Film Critics Circle and was inducted into the CCNY Communications Hall of Fame in 2007.
As a guest programmer and presenter at numerous film festivals and events, including Turner Classic Movies, The Museum of Modern Art and The Museum of Moving Image, Lumenick provides film goers with his unique perspective and historical interpretations of Hollywood’s greatest films, said Ed Johnson, the series organizer.
This is the season’s second in a three-film presentation of features centered around Presidential Election Scandals. On Dec. 3, the series will wrap up with the 1997 “Wag The Dog,” directed by Barry Levinson.
The series is free and open to public, with donations collected in support of the Asbury Park Toy Drive and/or The Asbury Park Little League.
