Ocean Township Police Department have charged resident Francis “Frank” Ambessi with attempted murder, weapons offenses and assault, according to a news release.

The charges stem from Wednesday afternoon’s call of a person who had been stabbed with a knife at a Rubin Lane home, officials said.

When police arrived near 3:15 p.m. they found a 49-year-old female with multiple stab wounds, a result of a domestic dispute. Ambessi, who was taken into custody at the scene, assaulted one of the police officers by spitting on him, officials said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where she underwent immediate surgery. She remains hospitalized and is said to be in stable condition.

Ambessi was remanded to Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $400,000 bail set by Superior Court Judge Honora O’Brien Kilgallen.
