Boys and Girls Club Youth Basketball League
Volunteer coaches and players sought for February to April program
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County is seeking coaches and players for its Youth Basketball League, running from late February through April’s end.
The program is open to boys and girls in grades 3 through 6 who reside in the city and will be administered at the Boys and Girls Club Asbury Park location on Monroe Avenue.
A Coaches Informational Meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday Jan 25 at the Boys and Girls Club for all those interested in volunteering.
Player Registration can be done 10 a.m to 6 p.m. through Feb. 10 at the front desk. The cost is $5 per player and will include clinics, practices and games.
The Youth Basketball League is a collaboration between the local Boys and Girls Club and the Asbury Park Recreation Department.
Game days and times are to be determined and will be played at the Boys and Girls Club gym. All teams will practice once per week.
Located at 1201 Monroe Avenue, the Asbury Park Boys and Girls Club aims to empower young people, ages 6 to 18, to reach their full potential.
The Club operates after-school program, run weekdays from 2:30 to 6 p.m., with snacks and dinner. A teen program operates in the evenings until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
There are also programs addressing smart decisions, cyber safety, health and wellness, education and career, and art and technology. At its recently refurbished pool, an aquatics safety class is conducted and through a collaboration with Lakehouse Music Academy, a Hip Hop Institute allows students to explore the back-end process of record production.
