Gubernatorial Candidate Phil Murphy Wins Monmouth Dems Support
87 percent of 233 Delegates Approve Endorsement at Sunday Convention
The Monmouth County Democrats, Sunday, were the first county in the state to hold a gubernatorial endorsement convention, resulting in resounding support for Phil Murphy of Middletown.
The former U.S. Ambassador to Germany and Goldman Sachs executive is known for championing middle-class causes via his New Start New Jersey, a progressive nonprofit policy think tank.
Murphy, who lives in Middletown won 87 percent of the 233 delegates votes during the mini convention at IBEW 400 Union Hall in Wall, according to a written news statement.

The results were the following:
Phil Murphy – 203 votes [87%]
John Wisniewski – 22 votes [9%]
Bill Brennan – 8 votes [4%]
Earlier this year, Murphy received endorsements from New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney, as well as from U.S. Senators Robert Menendez, [D-Paramus] and Cory Booker, [D-Newark].
Murphy will now be the endorsed candidate on the Monmouth County Line in the June Primary, said spokesman Matt Anderson.
