The Hotel Tides Hosts Two Week Food Drive
Non perishable food collected to support FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties
The Hotel Tides will launch a two week food drive on Feb. 1 to benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Founded in 1984, the Neptune based nonprofit serves over 300 pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs through its distribution of over 12 million pounds of food annually; including 2.5 million pounds of fresh produce.
The FoodBank operates a Culinary Training Program, Kids Café and Backpack program, Nutrition and Senior Food Package program, Mobile Food Pantry, and a Multiple Benefits Outreach Program that assists individuals with Food Stamps [SNAP], free tax preparation [VITA], and Affordable Healthcare Insurance assistance.
“Last year we were able to donate 103 pounds of food from our first drive,” Tides General Manager Ryan Jimenez said. “This year we hope to surpass that. It has become a lasting tradition of ours to be a part of this community, give back in anyway we can, and encourage others to do the same.”
The items that are most needed include; canned tuna, chicken or salmon [in water], canned vegetables, brown, wild or white rice, peanut butter and jelly, pasta, canned beans, lentils or peas, unsalted nuts and more.
Items may be dropped off from 4 to 11 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday February 1 to 15, Jimenez said. The Hotel Tides is located at 408 Seventh Ave.
