NENAproductions debuts Peter and The Starcatcher
Tickets now on sale for March 3 to 12 Performances At JSAC
NENAproductions Theater Project is wrapping up their 2016-17 season with a production of the five-time Tony winning Peter And The Starcatcher at the Jersey Shore Arts Center.
Based on the bestselling novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, and written by Rick Elice with music by Wayne Barker, Peter and the Starcatcher is the prequel to the long beloved story of Peter Pan.
Production Director Nick Montesano said calls it an epic origin story that is both hilarious and inspiring.
It’s a “swashbuckling, mad-cap adventure aboard the good ship Neverland,” Montesano said in a written statement. “Before Peter was Pan, he was just an orphan who didn’t like grown ups. But his future changes forever when the lost boy boards a pirate ship, and we’re whisked away on a breathtaking adventure to answer the question: how did a boy named Peter become The Boy Who Never Grew Up.”
The cast, which takes depictions of over 100 characters, includes NENA veterans Joe Hausvater, Samantha Maidlow, Tyler Cicardo, Jeff Caplan, Carly Cosentino, Justin Friedman, Matthew Yee, and Arnold Teixeira, and making their NENA debuts are Daniel Byre, Kevin McGee, Sean Dickinson, and Steve Brandt, Montesano said. The show is recommended for ages eight and up.
NENAproductions Theater Project formed 14 years ago with a mission ‘to produce classic and seldom seen theatrical pieces that provoke meaningful discussions about the human condition while bringing a sense of pride to our community.’
Productions have included Doubt, Avenue Q, Cabaret, Godspell, The Laramie Project, and their most recent revisit of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The family-friendly Peter And The Starcatcher production will run 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, March 3 to 11, and at 3 p.m. Sunday on March 12 at the Jersey Shore Arts Center located at 66 S. Main St in Ocean Grove.
