Teen Found; Fourth Avenue water main installation begins
A juvenile, reported missing since Sunday, was found safe and sound, Asbury Park Police Department spokesman Ptl. Michael Casey said.
Officials issued a missing person alert Wednesday to help locate 14-year-old America Rice, described as 5’ 2” black female with a light brown complexion, brown eyes, and red/auburn hair.
Casey said the investigating detective reported the teen safely returned home Wednesday evening.
Fourth Avenue Water Main Installation
In other news, work to install a new water main along Fourth Avenue begins Thursday.
The New Jersey American Water project begins Feb. 23 and is expected to continue through March 28, according to municipal alert issued Wednesday. The road is expected to remain open with police officers on site to direct traffic.
The first phase of the project launches between Memorial Drive to Bridge Street, with a March 10 completion date. From there, installation will progress from Bridge Street to Prospect Avenue, with an expected March 28 completion.
The road will be topped with temporary blacktop at night, so that streets can be easily cleared in the event of a snow storm, officials said.
In conjunction with the project, service and hydrant work will be done from March 20 to April 28, with side street tie-ins conducted intermittently from April 3 to May 2. Trench paving will be done daily, officials said.
