Allenhurst Police Blotter: July 25 to August 5, 2012
Handbags in dumpster linked to thefts in Sandy Hook, Long Branch and Asbury Park

On July 25, after following-up on a previous domestic violence incident, Allenhurst police arrested a 31 year old Brick Township man. He was served with criminal complaints for simple assault and criminal mischief and was transported to the county jail, in lieu of bail, awaiting a court date.
On July 28, after stopping a vehicle for driving erratically, the Allenhurst police arrested a 25 year old Manalapan woman for DWI. She was additionally charged with failure to keep right and reckless driving. She was processed and released to a responsible/sober adult and her vehicle was impounded. SO Carafa was the arresting officer and was assisted by Ptl Eustace.
On July 29, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at approximately 2:20 a.m., at the intersection of Corlies/Ocean Avenues, and found it was 1 vehicle which had crashed into a fire hydrant. The crash remains under investigation and the driver was uninjured. Ptl Lipari is the investigating officer.
On July 29, police arrested a 26 year old Long Branch man after stopping him for a motor vehicle violation. He was found to have a warrant, out of Deal, and was taken into custody without incident. He was processed and turned over to Deal PD officers. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer and was assisted by Ptl Lipari.
On July 30, with the assistance of the Allenhurst DPW, the Allenhurst Police retrieved 6 handbags that had been thrown away in a dumpster. Through some investigation, the owners of almost all the bags have been identified and the police department is in the process of reuniting all owners with their belongings. Apparently all the bags had been stolen in Sandy Hook, Long Branch and Asbury Park, near the beach areas. Police are reminding all beach patrons to please lock your vehicles, when they are left unattended, thefts of this nature only take seconds, and most vehicles are simply unlocked. The investigation is ongoing in this matter.
On August 3, after stopping a 48 year old Long Branch man for a motor vehicle violation, he was subsequently arrested for driving without insurance. He was issued summons for driving while suspended and driving uninsured and his vehicle was impounded. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer and was assisted by SO Carafa.
On August 5, after stopping a vehicle, believing the registered owner was a wanted person, police arrested the driver, a 30 year old Asbury Park man for driving while unlicensed and driving without insurance. The subject was released on 2 traffic summonses and the vehicle was impounded. The registered owner of the vehicle also had a summons mailed to him for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate his vehicle. Ptl DiBona was the arresting officer and was assisted by Ptl Eustace.
During the period of July 5 through August 5, the Allenhurst police arrested 4 other individuals on various contempt of court warrants.
