Ascension Is Moving To Asbury Park Aug 4 To 6
Dance And Music Festival Spotlights DJs From Across The Globe
The popular east coast party Ascension will be moving to Asbury Park this summer, organizers announced Tuesday.
The weekend music and dance festival known to attract thousands from across the globe launched in 2006 on Fire Island, where it continued until 2014. In the past two years, Ascension was held in Mykonos, founder Eric von Kuersteiner said.
“We are thrilled to bring Ascension back to the states this year,” von Kuersteiner said in a written statement. “We brought on a new partner for the weekend who brought a lot of fresh ideas including the idea to take the party to the beautiful beaches on the Jersey Shore.”
The city’s transformation; major investments in the boardwalk and waterfront areas and the downtown’s revitalization is what attracted organizers to move the global event to Asbury Park.
“2017 is a new chapter for Ascension and we are pulling out all the stops,” von Kuersteiner said. “Once again, we aim to give guests a fun-in-the-sun experience they will always remember. It will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the local businesses to thousands of new visitors.”
Ascension is a charitable event, with 100% of the net proceeds going toward the LGBTQ community, organizers said. Over $1 million has been donated to over 40 different organizations to date. The LGBTQ community of Asbury Park will be the major benefactor for Ascension 2017.
Slated for Aug. 4 to the 6, Ascension features eleven parties and 14 highly acclaimed DJs that launches with a VIP Cocktail Party with DJ Lina at The Asbury’s Baronet deck. Among the highlights are the 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday Beach Party and Sunday’s noon to 6 p.m. Pool Party. The spinning talent includes world renowned DJs Eddie Martinez, Dani Toro and Hansel, Paulo, and Dan Slater.
