Rain or Shine Deal Lake Saturday Cleanup Is On
Volunteers meet at Main Street Boat Ramp for 9 a.m to noon clearing
Despite the predicted early morning showers, forecasters are predicted a clearing in time for the Deal Lake Commission’s Spring Cleanup, launching 9 a.m. from the Asbury Park Boat Ramp on Main Street at the corner of Seventh Avenue, across from the 7-11.
Chairman Don Brockel said the cleanup will be held rain or shine and volunteers are needed. The current forecast shows a decreased chance of rain after 10 a.m.
“Anytime you can spare would be fantastic,” he said in a written statement. “Dress for the weather in your favorite work clothes, gloves and older shoes. If you have waders please bring them along.”
Volunteers will be asked to help clear debris from the 27-mile shoreline of the 158 acre waterbody that borders Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Deal, Interlaken, Loch Arbour, Neptune and Ocean townships.
Brockel said work gloves, trash bags, and tools will be provide and that boat and kayak help is welcomed. Nets and bags will be provided to boaters at the boat ramp.
The cleanup will be be held from 9 a.m. to noon.
