Yappy Hour Grand Opening Saturday At Wonder Bar
All breeds welcomed at event in support of AP Boardwalk Rescue
Yappy Hour is a place where not only does everyone know your name but they know your dog, breed and all.
It’s that kind of tall “tail” where dogs meet drinks, a spokesperson said. Dogs run free, but that doesn’t mean they run wild.
And while the Yappy Hour deck is restricted to dog owners 21 and over, no breed is turned away. There is an adjacent fenced in area with table and chairs for those under 21.
There are dog swimming pools, sand box, an agility area, and even a special ‘time out’ zone for those four legged friends who need to unwind.
There are a few rules to note: dogs must be neutered and have a rabies tag or dog license. Choke, prong and spike collars are not allowed and the Wonder Bar asks that owners don’t bring dog toys or food. And it probably goes without saying but owners must pick up after their dogs.
Yappy Hour was founded 12 years ago by manager Debbie DeLisa, a former Eastern Airlines flight attendant.
“Everybody knows your name, everybody knows your dog’s name,” says DeLisa.
Doors will open at noon with a special 2 to 4 p.m. acoustic performance by NRG.

Yappy Hour will also host an Easter Party for Pups on Easter Sunday, April 16; a Spring Benefit in support of Mid Atlantic Bulldog Rescue on Saturday, April 22, with a rain date of April 29; and PugaPalooza returns the first weekend in May.
