Earth Day Creative Protest & Rooftop Rally Rescheduled
Rain moves the environmental awareness events to Sunday - same time and places
Due to rain, the Earth Day Creative Protest scheduled along Asbury Park’s north beach area and the Rally on the Roof at Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten has been postponed to Sunday.
All event details remain the same, organizers said.
The local event is a collaboration between Women’s March Asbury Park organizers and the Asbury Park Environmental Tree and Shade Commission.
Participants will gather 11 a.m. at Sixth Avenue beach in support of the Clean Ocean Action Jersey Shore wide Beach Sweeps and will form letters to spell out a message that will be sent directly to the White House, organizers have said.
Every person who attends will be asked to remove five pieces of trash from the beach in addition to everything they carry on.
For photography purposes, which are being captured by drone photographer Gary Mastriano, organizers are requesting that participants wear blue, green or black. Earth Day themed posters are welcomed.
RSVP is critical and can be done via the eventbrite page here. The amount of attendees will determine the spell out message.
Following the peaceful protest and beach cleanup, Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten will host a noon to 5 p.m. Earth Day Rally on the Roof in conjunction with the Surfrider Foundation Jersey Shore Chapter.
The event features music by the Black Flamingos, political speakers, a voter registration table, used wetsuit recycling collection, vendor tables, and awareness material from local non-profits, environmental organizations and various sponsors. There will be chances to win an array of sponsored prizes and gifts.
All money raised will go towards purchasing seasonal beach badges for families in need to further the beach access for all campaign.
The Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten is located at 527 Lake Avenue.
