Bike Rodeo
A Safe Routes to School Bicycle Riding Skills Program will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bradley Elementary School, located at 1100 Third Avenue Asbury Park. The event features a learn to ride course, with a separate course for Pre-K to 2nd-grade students; safety tips and equipment check; helmet fitting; proper hand signals and bike handling tips. Sponsored by Meadowlands Transportation Brokerage Corporation d/b/a Meadowlink, a signed waiver is required. Each child must have their own bicycle, tricycle or scooter in good working order, and a helmet. Helmets will be available in limited quantity. For more info, visit www.ezride.org.
The Fourth Annual Charity Kings Wish Upon A Prom dress giveaway will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Harold Daley VFW Post 1333, located at 701 Lake Avenue. This event is open and free to all students who may be in need of free prom/ dance attire, organizer Sherrice Lyles said. This includes tuxedos, shoes, makeup, hair and other accessories. Expungement Session
A free Expungement Service Session for Monmouth County residents will be held 7 p.m. Friday at St. Stephen AMEZ Episcopal Church, located at 1001 Springwood Avenue. Expungement asks courts and/or law enforcement agencies to modify, seal, or eliminate criminal records. Once complete, a criminal record cannot be viewed by the public and recipients do not have to disclose past criminal activity to employers or landlords. Haitian Heritage Celebration
A Celebration of Haitian Heritage Month will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Asbury Park City Council Chambers, located at 1 Municipal Plaza. The free event is sponsored by NJ – Haiti Partners, in conjunctions with Asbury Park business owners, individuals, churches, and restaurants. The celebration of more than 50 years of HaHaitian-American culture along the Jersey Shore, the event features several performances, awards to individuals who have served the community, and food from both Haitian and American eateries. Paws for Bon Fun 5K Dog Walk-Run
Lace up those running shoes and your leashes, the Paws for Bon Fun 5K Dog Walk-Run will be held 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Joe Palaia Park, located at 240 Whalepond Road in Ocean Township. The fundraising event is held in honor of Bonnie Bastan, Tails of Hope Animal Rescue founding member and avid runner, who lost her battle with brain cancer last summer.
