Among the most memorable lines of Governor Chris Christie’s tenure was his demand that sunbathers “get the hell off the beach in Asbury Park” as Hurricane Irene approached last summer.
Christie will make the opposite pitch at a 3 p.m. news conference Monday at the Asbury Park boardwalk to promote the Jersey Shore, according to the public schedule issued by the Office of the Governor.
After the news conference, the governor will embark on an “Asbury Park Boardwalk and Beach Walk,” the schedule states.
The location for the press conference is listed at 1300 Ocean Ave., which is outside the pavilion housing the offices of boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette.
