Community Discussion Begins 6:30 p.m. Monday at Gables School

Exploring Our Differences is a community meeting being held 6:30 p.m. Monday at Gables Elementary School, located at 1 Gables Court in Neptune City.

The forum aims to bring about meaningful conversation on everything from race, religion, and gender, honesty, understanding and awareness, to perception, privilege, and power, according to organizers.

The free event opens with a light dinner prior to the interactive discussion led by Sally Millaway and Derek Minno Bloom of the Food Justice Project of Asbury Park’s Trinity Episcopal Church.

The event is sponsored by the Midtown Urban Renaissance, a volunteer group that works to  empower residents and their enhance quality of life through neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing, safe streets, education, and employment opportunities.

In recent month’s MURC has facilitated discussions pertaining to gun violence and safe communities as well as a meet the board of education candidates  forum.
