Man, 37, Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting 11-year-old Girl
An Asbury Park man was found guilty Wednesday of sexual assault charges stemming from a 2014 involving an 11-year-old girl, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced Saturday.
Didier Villagra, 37, of Asbury Park, was found guilty of first degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree sexual assault, and second degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to a news release.
The charges stem from an April 2014 incident, in which Villagra, entered the victim’s bedroom and committed an act of sexual penetration on her, officials said. He was a member of the Asbury Park household.
The following morning, the victim reported the incident to her mother. The Asbury Park Police Department was contacted and conducted the investigation in conjunction with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Special Victims Bureau.
Villagra was arrested on April 6, 2014.
For the first degree aggravated sexual assault charge, Villagra faces up to 20 years in a state prison, of which 85 percent must be served before being eligible for parole. On the charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, he faces a sentence of between five to ten years, officials said. Villagra will be required to register pursuant to Megan’s Law and be placed on parole supervision for the entirety of his life.
Villagra is scheduled for sentencing on August 18, 2017 before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge David F. Bauman. The case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutors Ellyn Rajfer and Stephanie Dugan. Villagra was represented by Carlos Diaz Cobo of New Brunswick.
