New Asbury Park Music Scene Bands Make Stone Pony Debut
Summer Swelter Kick Off Showcases All-Original All-Local Talent
A few local musicians making a their mark in the Asbury Park music scene will make their debut on The Stone Pony stage Thursday night.
Organized by Joe Henderson of The Burns [at right], the Summer Swelter Kick Off Party will also feature Modern Crowds, Avery and the Man Devils, We’re Ghosts Now, and The Mercury Brothers.
“It’s a lineup of fairly new bands,” Henderson said. “I wanted to bring everyone together to appreciate the new music that is coming out the area right now.”
Henderson, an Oceanport resident, was a member of The Stone Pony’s house band for many years and also worked at The Saint, located on Main Street.
His band, The Burns, is a new collaborative comprised of musicians Chris Dubrow, Fern, and Billy McCabe.
“We’ve all played with groups that have been in the area,” said Henderson, the group’s frontman and guitarist.
Another group making waves in the Asbury Park Music scene is Modern Crowds [at right]. Although the formed just one year ago, the indie rock group has dropped an album and just release a second single.
The Burns, known for their hilarious stage antics, will drop their debut LP in August. For more about The Burns visit their Facebook page.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and $10 tickets are available online until 6 p.m. Tickets will be $12 at the door.
