Italian Heritage Celebrated In Humor At The Paramount
Bad Boy Jersey Mike & Candice Guardino’s Italian Bred On The Bill
As July comes to a close, the folks over at the Asbury Park Boardwalk have two back to back shows offering a bit of levity, Italian style.
First up is that bad boy of comedy Mike Marino, known to most as simply Jersey Mike. And while tickets to the 7:30 p.m. July 29 performance quickly sold out, organizers have added a 9:30 p.m. option.
Marino is a Jersey City native who was inducted into the New Jersey Comedy Hall of Fame back in 2008 and a 2015 USO Bob Hope Comedy Award recipient. He’s appeared in over 200 national commercials and has an array of soaps and television shows on is c.v.; As the World Turns, One Life to Live, Becker, Nikki, Frasier and Party of Five, to name a few. His film credits include Crooks, Pizza with Bullets, Hangin’ in Hedo and Steven King’s Lucky Quarter and Criticized.
Known for his cutting edge observations of everyday life and his Italian family roots, Marino spun his stand-up into a TV pilot called “Re-Constructing Jersey.”
The show is made possible through a collaboration with Catch A Rising Star, the NYC comedy club known for launching the careers of Jerry Seinfeld, Dane Cook, and Chris Rock.
Tickets to the 9:30 p.m. July 29 show are $32 via www.catcharisingstar.com.
Next up is the comedic Italian Bred, written and starring Candice Guardino, a Bensonhurst native who grew up on Staten Island.
Having written down everything her loving and outspoken grandmother ever uttered, Guardino tells her story through the eyes of her younger self. She slips in and out of multiple characters with cameos from Leslie Jordan, Emmy winning Will and Grace star, Sex and the City’s Mario Cantone, The Sopranos Steve Schirripa, and Mall Cop 2’s Vic DiBitetto.

Tickets for the 3 p.m. show are $18 available via apboardwalk.com.
