DNA Forms In Asbury Park
Neighborhood Association aims to address parking, noise, trash, & new development in the downtown
A group of residents have formed what will be an association focused on quality of life issues in the downtown neighborhood, officially known as the Central Business District [CBD] Redevelopment Area.
The new Downtown Neighbors Association of Asbury Park [DNA] had its first meeting last week, member Gary Maffei said.
On the agenda was the formal creation of a steering committee and discussions about parking issues, noise from numerous sources, problems with trash collection and new development, Maffei said. Future ideas include creating a welcome wagon for new residents, a downtown playground, green teams, and voter registration.
“Green teams will provide the leadership to develop plans, implement programs and assist with educational opportunities that support the creation of a sustainable community,” Maffei said.
In attendance were 10 residents representing four downtown buildings, he said.
“The group deals with issues of import to residents of the CBD, however, anyone that wants to discuss these issues would be welcome,” Maffei said.
The public group will next meet on Sept. 16 at DJ’s Delights Deli & Restaurant, located at 620 Mattison Ave. For more information, email dnaofap@gmail.com.
