From Aug. 18 to 23, the Allenhurst Police Department reported the following incidents:
• Aug. 18: Police responded to a crash involving a bicycle and a vehicle at the intersection of Corlies and Ocean avenues. The bicyclist was transported to the Jersey Shore University Hospital by the Allenhurst First Aid Squad. Sergeant James Rogers is the investigating officer. The investigation is ongoing.
• Aug. 18: After stopping a 24-year-old Keansburg woman for a motor vehicle violation, police arrested the 25-year-old Matawan man with her when he was found to have warrants out of Aberdeen and Freehold Boro. He was processed and released on cash bail. The driver was issued a summons for driving a vehicle with an expired registration. Special Officer Anthony Carafa was the arresting officer and was assisted by Patrolman Scott Raffola.
• Aug. 19: Police arrested a 39-year-old Allenhurst man for driving while intoxicated. He was processed and released to a sober adult. He was issued summonses for DWI and reckless driving. Ptl. Eric Scamporino was the arresting officer and was assisted by Ptl. Mike DiBona.
• Aug. 19: After investigating a 9-1-1 call reporting a dispute in the 400 block of Spier Avenue, the Allenhurst Police requested that the Allenhurst First Aid Squad respond for a crisis transport to the Monmouth Medical Center. Police stood by while a 26-year-old male subject was taken into custody by the First Aid Squad. While the Allenhurst Police were still on location, they determined a second subject also needed to be transported to the Monmouth Medical Center crisis unit. The Deal First Aid Squad assisted in transporting the second subject, a 30-year-old female, to the crisis unit. There were no criminal charges filed against either subject. Rogers was the investigating officer and was assisted by DiBona.
• Aug. 19: After receiving a report of a hit-and-run involving a bus striking a sign in the area of Corlies and Ocean avenues, police issued two motor vehicle summonses to a 39-year-old Pine Beach woman for failure to report a crash and leaving the scene of an accident. DiBona was the investigating officer.
•Aug. 19: After stopping a 42-year-old North Carolina man for having a child unrestrained in his vehicle, police also found he was driving without a valid drivers license for over seven years. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed subject. The Allenhurst Police want to remind all motorists that seat belt laws, especially regarding children, will be aggressively enforced throughout the year. Rapolla was the investigating officer and was assisted by Ptl. Marc Eustace.
• Aug. 21: During the course of a motor vehicle stop the Allenhurst Police arrested a 53-year-old Atlantic Highlands man for illegally possessing a pair of handcuffs without an authorized law enforcement use. He was arrested and issued a criminal summons with a future court date. He was also issued a traffic summons for driving with a suspended driver’s license. Eustrace was the arresting officer.
• Aug. 23: Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Corlies Avenue and Main Street. The crash involved a commercial vehicle and a passenger vehicle. There were no injuries to either driver. The drive of the passenger vehicle received a traffic summons for unsafe backing. Rapolla and Carafa responded.
• Aug. 23: Police arrested a 24-year-old Old Bridge woman on an outstanding warrant out of Old Bridge after stopping her for an expired inspection sticker. She was arrested, processed and released on cash bail. She was issued two Allenhurst traffic summons for an overdue inspection and for driving with a suspended driver’s license. Scamporino was the arresting officer and was assisted by Rapolla.
• Aug. 23: Police arrested a 24-year-old Asbury Park man on a warrant for his arrest out of Wall Township. He was taken into custody, processed, and released on cash bail. There were no local charges filed. Carafa was the arresting officer.
• From Aug. 18 to 23, the Allenhurst police arrested two additional individuals on contempt of court warrants.
