A local woman this weekend was arrested after allegedly attacking her boyfriend with a beer bottle, Asbury Park Police Captain Anthony Salerno said.

The police were called to Jersey Shore University Medical Center when a man was brought in with stab wounds, Salerno said. Police determined through investigation that the incident stemmed from an altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend that turned violent.

Maribel Riera, 48, allegedly cut her live-in boyfriend with a beer bottle, Salerno said. Riera was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

Riera was sent to Monmouth County Correctional Institution, where she currently remains. Her bail was set at $30,000 by municipal court judge Dan DiBenedetto, Salerno said.

Riera’s boyfriend has since left the hospital as his injuries have been deemed not serious, Salerno said. The incident took place in the 700 block of Sewall Avenue.

• A 53-year-old male from Asbury Park was arrested and charged with possession of CDS in the 1100 block of First Avenue.

• An 18-year-old female from Long Branch was arrested and charged with theft in the 1300 block of Ocean Avenue.

• A 29-year-old male from Asbury Park was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and contempt of court in the 1300 block of Main Street.

• A 29-year-old male from Matawan was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice in the 1300 block of Main Street.

• A 58-year-old male from Asbury Park was arrested and charged with theft in the 200 block of Third Avenue.

AUG. 31

• A 22-year-old male from Asbury Park was arrested and charged with trespassing in the 1200 block of Third Avenue.

• A 63-year-old male from Asbury Park was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at police headquarters.

• A 20-year-old male from Asbury Park was arrested and charged with assault and contempt of court at police headquarters.

• A 33-year-old male from Asbury Park was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and contempt of court at the intersection of Springwood and Dewitt avenues.

• A 30-year-old male from Ocean Grove was arrested and charged with defiant trespassing and possession of CDS in the 700 block of Third Avenue.
