Superhero Edict Launches At Barack Obama Elementary
Mayor Moor & Councilwoman Clayton help set off the new school year
The first day of school in the Asbury Park School District came with a new theme at Barack Obama Elementary.
“This is a new super school year,” Principal Reginald Mirthil said. “The theme for this school year is HERO – helpful, engaged, respectful and on task.”
To further the new directive, the faculty wore superhero t-shirts and Mayor John Moor and Councilwoman Yvonne Clayton sent words of inspiration to help the students launch their new year.
“You have a great school here and a great staff,” Moor said. “I wish you all the best and please enjoy and work hard.”
Clayton reminisced about her time at the Bangs Avenue school.
“It so good to be here this morning,” Clayton said. “This is a special day for me. My room was right upstairs when I was going here. Welcome have fun, happy new year. ”
